The Applicability of the Ovahimba People’s Indigenous Methods of Learning to Educational Programmes in Namibia

The purpose of this study was to explore the applicability Ovahimba people’s traditional methods learning their Indigenous Knowledge Systems educational programmes in Namibia. An ethnographic carried out within community various they use disseminating indigenous knowledge systems among themselves. data collected through individual interviews and focus group discussions with sampled members Kunene region, analysed thematically, interpreted discussed drawing further insights from literature evidence. Key findings revealed that people have eight main knowledge, which relates observations, practical learning, show-and-teach, demonstration, consultation, dancing, folktales, questioning or probing methods, incidental learning. Educational institutions, curriculum developers teachers region where resides, are implored align teaching for so can easily grasp content as those familiar them. recommended integration into meant community.
